To be honest, initially I wasn't really a fan of Tan Yu because from what I assumed and perceived, it's looked just like a grilled fish with different ingredients and flavours and I don't get how it is so popular to the extent that everyone is going crazy over it. At least not until the day when I decided to jump aboard the wagon and give it a try. First of all, you need to fill up your details on the iPad to get a queue number. Menu:The interior of the restaurant has a very vintage feel to it including the plates used which has a cat and fish theme. We ordered the Grilled Fish with green pepper which is one of their signature and most popular fish. You can choose the type of fish you want to go with and we opt for the cheapest one which is limbo fish and it’s actually quite good. The bones was still manageable because I hate eating fish with a lot of tiny bones. The green pepper and green chilli might not look very appetising but it’s actually make the fish ‘soup’ and the fish tastes extra peppery and spicy and I’m actually a huge fan of pepper but I have never see or taste any dish using green pepper before and I got to say it is one of the best fish I have ever had! The taste reminds me abit of the mala feel and I love it. You can also opt for the extra ingredients to go with your fish ‘soup’ and the ingredients actually come hidden underneath the fish where its absorbs all the goodness of the ‘soup’. We opt for cauliflower, lotus root and enoki mushrooms and I love the cauliflower part the most as it’s absorb the peppery taste and become very soft and mushy over time. The fish and the extra ingredients all goes very well with the rice to the extent that I actually ordered the second bowl of rice because it is that good. Tan Yu
