It was my first time here at Salt Grill & Sky Bar; a fine dining restaurant place I have always heard of but too expensive to visit. We had the 3 course brunch menu which costs $44+ per person. Situated at 55th floor of Ion Orchard which features a breath-taking view while enjoy the good food that the restaurant has to offered. Menu:I noticed that most fine dining places always served complimentary bread and butter before the starters. And I'm always taken aback by how the bread can be so fresh, warm and so good. This dish has a very weird combination i have never seen before. Its called Whipped Truffle Burrata, Confit tomato, basil, figs, aged balsamic. This is something i have never tasted before in my life. The whipped burrata really compliments the figs and tomato really well. The tomato was surprising sweet given how small it was, and the figs was full of flavour. I have never taste figs before and I was surprised at how figs can tastes so good. The aged balsamic on top of the burrata gives an added tangy kick to the dish and also elevates the flavour of the dish itself. The other starter beside beef was Tuna Gravlax, citrus salsa, yarra valley salmon roe. The raw tuna was diced into small pieces, together with the citrus salsa which was very refreshing. At first glance, I thought that the citrus was lemon and it could be very sour but I was wrong; it is actually very sweet tasting orange. Who could have thought that raw tuna, citrus and roe could actually complement one another. I had the Beetroot Cured King Salmon, zucchini & sweet corn rosti, slow cooked egg, seaweed hollandaise. Usually fine dining food is not very filling given the small portion but I personally think the salmon and rosti that I had can make you feel quite full. The salmon is actually smoked salmon, on top of a layer of rosti and you can taste the sweet corn inside the rosti. The poached egg on top pours over the salmon and rosti and add flavours to the overall taste while the salad gives off a slight bitter taste to the dish. The hollandaise sauce however gives off a refreshing and tangy taste to it. The Westholme Wagyu Ramp Cap, sunny side-up egg, roasted tomato, hand-cut chips, house BBQ sauce on this plate taste phenomenal! The beef was tender and flavourful, each bite was a taste of happiness. The tomatoes and the bbq sauce at the side compliments the beef really well. The fries was crispy and seasoned beautifully. I didn't had the dessert because none of the 3 items on the menu is what I had so Terrence ended up ordering the House made coconut sorbet, seasonal berries and house salad. He feel that the dessert was very good. The sorbet was not too sweet but has a really strong coconut flavour to it. The berries and salad pairing to the sorbet was a match made in heaven as every bite puts a smile on his face and he wish that the portion was much more bigger. Salt Grill & Sky Bar
