The French Table is a new restaurant that have just recently opened its door at Northpoint around May 2015. This means more food variety for residents staying in the North, because like me, you might have already been bored of Northpoint food hahaha. If you have passed by this restaurant, I assume a lot of people have already seen it and know where it is located (Level 1, beside Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe and new bus interchange), you will be attracted to its big screen showing their food menu (I mean who won't be attracted if you are hungry and you see large HD quality pictures of food??) and also their display fridge showcasing up to at least 6 cakes and desserts. I know I can't reject them. Being a fan of mocktails, I decide to go for this Mango Mint drink (forgot the exact name) as I thought it will be nice since its menu have written refreshing and perfect for a sunny day. But after my first taste, I know I don't like it because the taste of spearmint is very strong, the mango just tastes weird and the drink is tangy. It's like ingredients that doesn't complement well with one another just forcefully come together into a drink. One tip is to stir the drink, it will sort of make the drink taste 1% better. I think only those who love strong mint will like this drink. Its not cheap either, it costs $5.40. Up next is Half Chicken in mushroom cream sauce with asparagus (my favourite vegetable). Second time eating something similar to the Poulet Chicken so in my own opinion, I would say the Poulet Chicken tastes much more better to this. Poulet have a richer sauce and its chicken is more tender and baked longer I guess whereas TFT sauce is creamy in terms of milky taste which I don't like and the chicken is sort of drier. Dad ordered one small bowl of rice ($1) to go with the chicken. Mum had the Japanese Crab Egg Carbonara Pasta. Overall, I find the pasta to be very salty, probably because of the roe in the middle and crab meat. The egg wasn't perfectly done either as you can see the whites are all over the pasta and egg yolk have already gone to the sides. A bit disappointing as it was one of the few dishes I was looking forward to and have very high expectations to it. This is the first dish I look forward to in trying. Seafood Soup Pasta. Even though it is miso soup and I don't really drink miso soup that come with the main meal in those Japanese food stalls at food court but this TFT miso soup is very addictive, I'm guessing that white wine is part of the reason. One thing about this dish that can be improved is the pasta which taste solely as just the pasta as I'm eating, its like completely separately from the soup. Generous amounts of mussels and clams are served! Yay! For desserts, Mum and I have Tiramisu in a mason jar (love mason jars, especially desserts or fancy drinks inside it). This costs around $8. I really love its cream, it is damn good. I don't like watery coffee cake base at the bottom. So far, all the Tiramisu I have tried have watery coffee cake base which makes me wonder is it really unpreventable to have watery coffee cake?? I'm looking forward to try coffee cake that are not watery. Any recommendations? Second time patronising TFT, this time round with just my mum. Love the coffee cup (looks so atas). Sadly, ordered the wrong tea, this time round I had the Earl Grey tea which tastes weird. I wanted to ordered the tea that we had the first time but I didn't know what tea was it since the staff ordered for us. I had the Mac & Cheese which was very disappointing because the mac is very dry and overcooked and it comes in a very small portion. The mushroom and cheese sauce is just so-so. Strawberry cake tastes very nice, you won't get tired after eating. Not so sweet and just nice and also photo-worthy hahaha but why is my plate not white?! (*inserts angry emoji) Some of the dishes I would recommend is the Seafood Pasta Soup, Tiramisu and Strawberry cake. The rest that I have tried and was disappointing, I won't recommend.
