Impromptu meet up with gladys to go eat at Fresh Fruits Lab Cafe which is located at Kallang Mrt station and is accessible by foot for about 10 minutes. Quite an ulu place surrounded by mosque and coffee shops nearby. If you don't already know, this cafe often shows up on my Instagram feed and is quite popular because of its unique concept with chemistry including all the utensils used. You get to drink through a beaker or test tube. The interior of the cafe is decorated by all sorts of chemistry equipments which reminded me of the chemistry lessons I had in secondary school. I used to dislike going to the lab because I need to touch all the chemicals but I was good at balancing the equations haha. Now all forget how to do liao lol. Complimentary free drinks in the form of beakers and test tube filled with orange juice and pineapple or lemon juice will be given once you get your seats! I ordered the Masago Cavier Pasta and Strawberry Soda while Gladys had the Portobello Pasta and Green Apple Soda. One thing for sure, the price range for this cafe is slightly higher than the average. The sodas is quite nice as it contains chopped up of fruits like the strawberry so you can actually drink and chew the small chopped up strawberries. They even come with a small cup of syrup if you feel that the sodas is not sweet enough to your liking. We shifted from the outdoor seats to the indoor bar seats because that is the only indoor seats available. It was full during the weekend and the cafe is quite small. The portion for my caviar pasta isn't a lot and obviously I wasn't full even though it costs me like $20?! Other than the fact that the pasta is made up of expensive ingredients, there is no surprise element in the pasta so I was pretty disappointed. On the other hand, Gladys got more pasta serving so I rather you order the portobello pasta than the caviar one. We also had beer shrooms which was a mega disappointment because the shrooms is so oily and one bite of the shroom, and the oil flows down the entire fork and my mouth which made it more messier. I'm not exaggerating, the oil is like free flow one, keep flowing omg boo. (PS just realise I don't have any photos of the beer shrooms) There is props provided on each table for you to fumble on and take photos while you wait patiently for your food. We wasn't that full so we ordered desserts after that; Gladys favourite lychee cake and my favourite rainbow cake. The cake texture was not something that I like or expected it to be. Instead of the spongy texture, this one is more firm and stiff. If I were to compare, maybe the lychee cake is slightly better because it is more moist even though I don't eat lychee. Wasn't what I expected it again, maybe I had my hopes up too high for the cafe. Got my hopes too high for Fresh Fruits so I was kinda disappointed. The price doesn't justice the taste of the food but more of its unique concept that make up for it. Kudos to the idea of chemistry but probably more improvement for the food. Overall, the staff are very friendly and helpful so it was a pleasant experience.
