Maybe like me, you are staying in the North but you are pretty damn clueless how to go to those cafes located at Upper Thomson because the stretch of road at Upper Thomson is so long.. Yes I don't blame you hahaha. I will be here to guild you on how to go! First thing first, take bus 855 from Yishun Interchange and type in your cafe address in your google map search box. This serves as a back-up so you know roughly which bus stop to alight!! The journey will take probably around 20-25 minutes? You know you have successfully alighted at the right place if you see a orange bus stop with Salted Caramel cafe behind it or some well-known waffle ice cream shop, counting from the row of shophouses 2nd from the left. You will also see Mookata as you walk along the road further down. Cross the traffic light to your right and voila, habitat coffee is just waiting for you at the opposite of the traffic light. That day I went, it was very crowded and the place is quite small, considering there is only 2 tables outside the cafe. Pretty small and squeezy kind of cafe. We have to use the queuing system to wait for our turn but overall it was very efficient as we only have to wait 10 minutes, we were 2nd in line. So kudos to them. I was more of a food visual person so it would have helped a lot if there were some photos on their menu instead of all words as I may have something I want to eat from the tagged photos on their Instagram but other than the stuffed berries hotcake which is more of the obvious one, I had a hard time deciding on what I want and most importantly, how does it looks like. So in the end, I went with Eggs Benedict I guess because I love runny yolks. I was expecting at least some greens to go with my benedict as most benedicts comes with it and the price should have justify with it too but rather disappointed as it's only just the eggs, bread and ham. The lighting wasn't that good, hence the poor quality of the photos. Oh ya, like earlier I have mentioned I was expecting some salad but looks there only 1 tiny bunch of green on top of the poached eggs. I find the bread to be rather dry as you can see, there's only the ham and the only ingredient that isn't dry on the plate is the eggs. A bit disappointed as this costs $12. Anyway, I don't think I taste any of the homemade hollandaise sauce. I feel that the Eggs Tomato Relish is better than the Eggs Benedict $15 since it will definitely not be as dry as the benedict. With the tomato relish, you can wreck your bread in it and make the bread absorb the goodness of the sweet peppery tomato sauce. Together with the scrambled eggs, it will be a perfect pair. The serving of coffee is rather small and it costs around $5++. I had caramel coffee that comes with my favourite caramel biscuit I used to buy back in the school bookshop beside Cheers when I was in Poly. Couldn't really distinguish the caramel taste inside the coffee, oh well. So apparently I wasn't full after my 2pm+ brunch as we set off rather late, we ordered the truffle fries. Note that I was the only one who was excited over the truffle hahaha. It's costs $12, same price as strangers' reunion if I remember it correctly and SR definitely have a bigger bowl of serving and when it comes to truffles, SR is definitely more generous. There is also a small bowl of truffle sauce for you to dip your fries! We waited very long for the fries to come, like around 15-20 minutes.
