Northpoint recently opened a new restaurant selling affordable Taiwanese food like braised meat rice and danzai noodles. Their restaurant settings follows the style of Taiwanese with wooden chairs and tables as well as utensils which gives off a cosy vibe. Menu:Their Hakka Style Braised Meat Rice is nice, flavourful and fragrant but definitely not comparable to those I had in Taiwan. The braised meat were soaked perfectly without being too salty or oily while the suan mei cai (Chinese picked vegetable or salted vegetables) give off another layer of different taste to the bowl and both compliments with each other. The braised egg was also soft and nicely done. Mum had their Taiwan District Favourite Danzai Noodles. I have never really tried this before in Taiwan and I could say the taste is actually very similar to any noodles in soup broth. It was a simple and homely dish with just kway teow noodles in a soup base. The soup is more towards the bland side and there wasn't really any outstanding or special taste in the soup. This is probably one of the snacks that I must recommend. The Moon Shape Prawn Cake is fried to a nice golden prawn with mashed prawn meat on the inside. The crispiness of the prawn cake outer layer goes well with the sweet taste of the prawn and the sauce add up to a special unique combination all together. Feng Food
