If you are a huge fan of mala, then you definitely have to try this mala in soup version and this cute shop with Lamma logo is one you need to try! Apparently I heard of this mala soup version from their shop and one of their outlets is located in town, Orchard Xchange to be exact! So the first step is choosing your ingredients from this wide variety of choices and step 2 is choosing your soup base. If you don't like mala, then you can go for their pork broth, pickled vegetables or tomato soup! Then choose whether you want to add on rice or dumplings for the last step. I went for their mala tang because this is my first time trying and as usual I will try not to overtake as much ingredients as possible because it can be quite expensive. For my case, I didn't choose any meats. I went for some of the vegetables, mussels and a packet of the carrot noodles which I thought was quite special and last I checked with the staff, it is cheaper as compared to the normal maggi noodles haha. I think mine was around $12-$14 range. Don't worry because there is free seating for all irregardless whether you choose to eat from Gong Yuan Mala Tang or Wee Ricebox because they share the seatings. The verdict for the Gong Yuan Mala Tang was equally as good and spicy as the dry version somehow I couldn't really decide on the winner as both have a different taste to it. The mala tang was spicy and flavourful while the ingredients was fresh and went along well with it surprisingly because I wouldn't have thought of such possibility. The colour of the soup is similar to that of a tom yum soup but taste wise; it is definite different. In the end we got our drinks, HK Tea Bing from Wee Ricebox because Gong Yuan Mala Tang don't sell any drinks. But the food menu from Wee Ricebox does look equally good as well so I will probably give it a try another day. Gong Yuan Mala Tang
