Ticking off Ming Hui's cafe bucket list in which Curious Palette is one of them. It is located opposite of Pomo Mall; nearest MRT station is Dhoby Ghaut. At first I thought the cafe looks quite empty from the outside but I was wrong, the cafe was filled with crowd on both levels and when you enter the cafe, it has a far and long stretch to the other end of the cafe. So don't judge a book by its cover. We were greeted by this long and huge mirror coated with gold paint on its frame, which carry off this whole vintage feels to it while the light bulbs and plant just adds on to the whole tumblr feels. Hence, a selfie is a must! Loving the whole interior feel to it- completes with either white or wood furniture which gives the cafe a whole minimalistic look to it and super cosy. The waiter brought us to level 2 of the cafe since there wasn't any more seats on level 1. The stairs lead us to the second floor which has a old and vintage vibes to it. It has many old and vintage chairs which reminds one of the 1950's with chinese wording written on it. The Menu:Minghui ordered the dish that comes with a toasted bread with 2 poached eggs and salad and truffled sweet potato fries. The fries is one the must order dish in their cafe. Best eaten when served hot. The only bad thing is I didn't taste the truffles at all. Berry Ricotta Hotcake is another one of their signuature dish and the waiter told us that we need to wait for 30 mins for the hotcake to be ready. Since good food are worth waiting, we ordered and waited for it and the outcome? No regrets! The hotcake was served with maple syrup and scooped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, topped with seasonal berries and mix of pumpkin and sunflower seed mix. Even though I don't eat pumpkin and sunflower seeds, the taste of the seeds is not very strong so you don't have to worry much about it and it's goes well with the hotcake and icecream. The hotcake was damn big and fluffy; not like your average looking hotcake where it is thin and comes in a small portion. The height of this pancake is around 3 inches??? Omg and it was served in a pan. Everything goes perfectly well with it including the fresh strawberries and blueberries used. The purple thing on top of the icecream I think is purple sugar. Trying to step vscocam and minimalistic feel; you mei you? Look at that crystal clear maple syrup omg~! Located at Dhoby Ghaut station, do not belittle the cafe as it is actually quite a big one. What I like about the cafe is the clean minimalistic feel to it and not forgetting the friendly service! However, be prepared to burn your pocket as the mains is not very cheap.
